What's Underneath

If you haven't seen this, it's a very moving piece. As is this article, by Robin Korth, called My Naked Truth sent in by Sandi. Thank you again.

I've come to the conclusion that one of the biggest gifts we can give ourselves is to stop worrying about what everyone else thinks.

About 20 years ago I wrote myself a note and put it in my wallet so that I would see it frequently.

It was at a time in my life when I was acutely aware that I was comparing myself to those around me.

The note said, "If it's okay with me then don't worry about it."

The note changed my life.

  1. I need to read this and internalize it. I am 44 and curvy, but fit. I took up running at 38 and just completed my first marathon. On the one hand, the accomplishment feels amazing. I had the courage to train for and do something I never thought I'd do and not many people do. (I didn't grow up running track.) On the other hand, I beat myself up when I look at race photos because my "butt's too big" or I "look like a linebacker..."

    1. Christie thank you for your comment and also congratulations on running a marathon. I've been running for over 30 years now but don't think that I have the bandwidth to run a marathon! It's good to always keep in mind that what we perceive as a perfect body is just a marketing and photographic illusion. Be thankful and happy for your curves as they are beauiful and are missing now in so many athletic bodies.
